Fleet insurance
One arrangement for every vehicle a business owns, from cars and two-wheelers to goods carriers and buses, with common renewal dates, a single contact and claims handled together.
What it covers
Cover varies between insurers and plans. The policy wording is what decides whether a claim is payable, so read it before you buy.
- Third-party liability for each vehicle in the fleet
- Own damage to the insured vehicles from accident, fire, theft and natural calamities
- Riot, strike and malicious damage
- Legal liability to paid drivers and other employees, where that extension is taken
- Vehicles added, removed or replaced during the policy year by endorsement
Key features
- One renewal calendar for the whole fleet instead of separate dates through the year
- Vehicles added, removed or replaced mid-term, with premium adjusted pro rata
- Consolidated statements and one claims contact for every vehicle
- Underwriting looks at the fleet's own claims experience, not only at each vehicle
- Cashless repair at the insurer's network garages: [NETWORK GARAGES]
- Eligibility depends on the insurer's rules on fleet size: [GROUP SIZE MINIMUM]
How to buy it
Four steps, with an advisor you can reach at any of them.
Tell us about the risk
Send us a schedule of vehicles with registration numbers, classes, values and how each one is used.
Underwriting details
An advisor collects the information insurers need to price the risk, and flags anything missing.
Compare quotes
We ask our partner insurers to quote, and put the cover, conditions and premium side by side.
Proposal & policy
Pick a quote, complete the proposal form and KYC, and the insurer issues the policy.
Fleet insurance: FAQs
How many vehicles do I need for a fleet arrangement?
Each insurer sets its own minimum: [GROUP SIZE MINIMUM]. Below it the vehicles are insured individually, though we can still line up the renewal dates for you.
What happens when I buy or sell a vehicle during the year?
The policy is endorsed. A new vehicle is added from the date it is insured and a sold vehicle is removed or transferred, with the premium adjusted as the insurer's terms provide.
Does No Claim Bonus apply to a fleet?
Insurers usually rate a fleet on its overall claims experience rather than on a per-vehicle No Claim Bonus. Your advisor can confirm how your insurer treats it.
Are the drivers covered?
Legal liability to paid drivers and other employees on the vehicle is covered where that extension is taken. Personal accident cover for drivers and group personal accident for staff are separate covers.
